The Story

On an early spring morning years ago, a Christian layman sat outside with his Bible open to Psalm 46:10.... 

"Be still and know that I am God".

As he meditated on this Scripture, he began to hear the Lord speaking to his heart,

"Be still my child, and in that stillness, you will come to know that I am God".

It was a paraphrase of the scripture that he had been reading.  He began to sense that there was more!  He went inside with a pen and a pad of paper and as he wrote out what he had already been given, the words continued to flow on the paper.  It was as if he was taking dictation.  The entire message was written in one continuous writing with no pauses or interruptions.  He simply wrote down what the Lord was speaking to his heart.

When it was completed, he sat in amazement and read the message over and over.  He knew that it was much too profound and too powerful to have come from his own intellect.

He shared it with his family, and a few friends who read it with amazement.  He believed strongly that he was supposed to do something more with the message he had been given. He went to see the owner of a local Christian Bookstore to talk with him about it.

The owner and his wife were having lunch in a back room of their store when he went to see them.   He told the story that is described above and the wife said, “Let me read it to Jim” (the owner).  As she read the words, Jim was visibly moved.  He said, “You need to do something with that message.”

The writer soon provided printed copies of the message,
which he had entitled: “A Healing Stillness”.  Jim began to talk with people who came into his bookstore about “A Healing Stillness” and people began purchasing the prints.

Realizing that the message seemed to have a greater effect when it was spoken to someone, the Writer once again felt strongly that he should record the message; however, because of the unusual structure of the message, he was at a total loss as what to use as a background for the narration.  Once again the answer became clear.

Jim suggested an idea that seemed to be straight from the Lord…a tape that had a collection of melodies with soft-spoken scriptures intermingled, and on one side of the tape, the melodies and woodland sounds only. 

With permission granted, some re-arranging was done and the message and the background fit together as if it had all been pre-arranged.  Step by step, the Lord had His hand on it from the beginning

The Writer contacted a local recording studio and the studio owner recorded as the writer narrated the message with the background playing.  It was then sent to a Christian company who produced professional copies of what had been recorded.
